Effective Notes = Effective Study
There is a learning concept called "Distributed Learning". This matches how we humans learn. This concept states that we take time to learn things and we learn better when the learning is spread over time. For example if you practice something for 100 minutes in one day or 10 minutes a day for 10 days you will learn better over 10 days even though you have practiced for the same amount of total time. Knowledge comes from repeated exposure over time. This is why note taking is such a vital study skill.
When you are in class or a lecture you get your first exposure to information. You take notes that you can review later. Each time you go back and review your notes, you are exposed to that information again and your knowledge and understanding can be reinforced. However, there are more an less effective techniques for note taking and we will explore those in the next lessons.
